Girls’ Empowerment Mission works with high school girls from Chesapeake High School in Essex, Maryland by providing opportunities and growth experiences that will enable them to become independent, self-sufficient, and confident young women. GEM is designed to address the needs of the girls it serves within a positive, nurturing and supportive environment. The three year curriculum includes cultural, recreational, social, educational, and professional opportunities, as well as mentoring, service to others, leadership training, financial literacy, and decision-making skills. GEM helps these girls understand that while they cannot help where they come from, they can control where they are going. Girls’ Empowerment Mission polishes our “gems” and when they complete the program they sparkle and shine! GEM consists of a three year curriculum from March of their freshman year to May of their senior year, GRADUATION!
